Trivia & Facts
• Even before its theatrical releases, this film had already made its budget back via international pre-sales.
• Mirrors are frequently featured in the film, and when they are, there is usually more than one mirror in the same shot. A prime example would be the scene in the hotel room between Chloe and Catherine.
• In the middle of March 2009, Liam Neeson interrupted filming his scenes in order to visit his wife Natasha Richardson in hospital after she had a skiing accident. The brain injury she received from this accident lead to her death a few days later. Just few days after her death, Neeson voluntarily returned to the set and completed his performance. The filmmakers changed the script accordingly and Neeson completed his performance in two days.
• Financed solely in France, the film was shot in Canada in Toronto, Ontario. Several famous Toronto landmarks, hotels, hot spots and restaurants are used and seen in the movie with their actual names.
Quotes: Character
Catherine Stewart: My husband’s cheating on me. At least, I think he is.
Catherine Stewart: Did you find that waitress sexy?
David Stewart: Which one?
Catherine Stewart: The one you were flirting with.
David Stewart: Oh come on, I was being friendly.
Chloe: [Calling Catherine in her clinic] Hello Catherine.
Catherine Stewart: Where are you?
Chloe: I’m in your waiting room. Didn’t you see me when I came in?
[camera pans to Chloe, standing in the doorway]
Catherine Stewart: This business transaction, which is what this was, is over!
Quotes: Julianne
“There was nothing different that I did to prepare than I do to prepare for any other intimate scene, if that’s what your question is. Do you mean was it different because it was a girl? “
About the sex scene with Amanda
“(The most challenging aspect of this role was) keeping it within the balance of normal behavior. If you try to one line this movie, it’s about a woman who hires a prostitute to follow her husband to find out if he’s cheating. It’s like, ‘Oh yeah, that happens all the time.’ When you do that, you get outside of it and then it stops being meaningful. You have to be inside of Catherine all the time, so that every time she meets [Chloe] and she goes, ‘Okay, we’re going to do this one more time. Okay, one more time,’ each step feels like tragedy inevitable. You can see it, you know it’s coming, but you know she has to take this – so that’s the most challenging thing to keep in line. ”
